Workshop Descriptions
INDIVIDUALISED SELF-PACED PRACTICE
5 mornings of small, group mysore practice.
Thursday - Monday October 2-6 | 7:00-9:00*
LAND AND SEA: THE PRIMARY SERIES
At the pinnacle of Ashtanga’s first series we find the tortoise, a creature at home at both land and at sea. With it’s strong, domed back and limbs that can stretch out or draw into its body, it is the tortoise we are emulating throughout all of Primary series. We extend and fold, lengthen and curl, inhale and exhale, cultivating stability and mobility in our legs, hips, and pelvis. In this workshop, we will use key postures from the Primary series (including the two kurmasana/tortoise postures) to explore these fundamental, opposing actions.
Friday October 3, 2025 | 17:00-19:00
EARTH, WIND, AND FIRE: THE BACKBENDS OF INTERMEDIATE SERIES
Backbends aren’t bends at all but really spinal extensions, exercises that are vital for spinal mobility, back stability, and good posture. In this workshop, using the sequence found at the beginning of Ashtanga’s second series, we will explore the 3 critical elements for strong, pain-free postures: rooted legs (earth); full breathing (wind); and complete presence (fire). In addition, students will learn the process for dropping back and standing up.
Saturday October 4, 2025 | 13:00-15:00
BIG SKY: THIRD SERIES AND BEYOND
I live in Big Sky Country, nicknamed for our big, open spaces and wild terrain. And in a way, this describes Ashtanga’s third series with postures as diverse as mountains and plains, that challenge us and grow our perspective. Trouble is, not many of us will want (or need) to learn this series in full. But that doesn’t mean it is completely off limits! In fact, there are a handful postures that are both useful and beneficial for all students and can easily be worked into your daily practice. These are the postures this workshop will explore.
Sunday October 5, 2025 | 13:00-15:00

Peg has taught yoga all over the world—from the lawn of the White House to the Highlands of Scotland to the festivals of Wanderlust. However, her greatest honor is being able to teach and practice alongside her daughter, Meghan Powell.
In addition to teaching, Peg is a writer whose work has been featured in Yoga Journal and numerous other news publications.
